AI That Executes, Not Just Assists, Is the New Benchmark

/

AI that once operated at a single, static checkpoint is now built to run continuously across an entire relationship or transaction life cycle.

That’s the throughline connecting Datos Insights’ 2026 Impact Awards in Commercial Banking & Payments, Wealth Management, Fraud & AML, and Insurance, and it’s why this year’s reports on the winning entries are worth reading closely. For financial institutions (FIs), the reports show what winning implementations actually do, not just what they claim, giving technology and risk teams a concrete benchmark for their own roadmaps. For vendors, they show where judges are setting the bar for differentiation, which is useful input for product and positioning decisions ahead of next year’s submissions. Datos Insights clients get the full detail behind every winner: what was built, how it was built, and the outcomes it produced.

A Common Thread

Across this year’s award submissions, that shift from checkpoint to continuous operation shows up everywhere: Detection and personalization alike are moving from rules-based, point-in-time interventions toward continuous, context-aware execution, powered by AI that acts rather than merely advises.

This year’s winners aren’t just automating existing steps; many execute multistep processes end to end: in wealth management, from portfolio risk analysis to client-ready balancing recommendations; in commercial banking, from call summarization and financial spreading to prompting a treasury team’s next payment; and in fraud and AML, from detection to process automation. Functions that used to operate independently are converging into unified platforms or expanding to cover a widening set of use cases. Real-time capability, whether
in payments infrastructure, investigation, or personalization, has become table stakes rather than a differentiator.

For FIs, the message is direct: Point-in-time controls and static, rules-based tools no longer keep pace. Institutions running on legacy batch processing or siloed fraud, AML, or personalization tools face a widening gap compared with the automation and coverage award-winners already have in production. This year’s commercial banking submissions make that gap concrete: Winning banks cite before-and after metrics from their own operations – from onboarding times cut in half to satisfaction gains and revenue growth tied to a specific rollout, rather than a described capability. If a new client’s onboarding still takes weeks instead of days or a suspicious transaction has to wait for a nightly batch run instead of triggering an alert in real time, you’re already behind this year’s winners.

This year’s wealth management submissions show the same pattern: Multiple entrants independently report halving advisor onboarding or client-discovery time by collapsing what used to be several separate tasks (data gathering, risk profiling, drafting an initial recommendation) into one continuous flow.

For solution providers, the bar has moved. An assistive AI feature bolted onto an existing workflow is no longer a differentiator. Solutions that execute end-to-end, span functions institutions used to buy separately, and operate continuously across the client relationship or transaction life cycle are setting this year’s standard. Among this year’s vendor entries, the strongest proof point wasn’t technical ambition alone but rather evidence of multiple live bank clients already running the platform. Vendors still selling point solutions or assistive features risk losing deals to competitors that can show end to-end execution already live with paying clients. They also face losing share of wallet with existing clients looking to consolidate vendors.

Submit Your Case Study To Get Recognized And Make An Impact

Institutions and solution providers submit case studies during the first half of every year, and a panel of Datos Insights and external institutional experts judges each entry to ensure impartiality. The result is a series of awards recognizing innovative solutions, whether implemented by an institution or offered by a solution provider, that have made – or are sure to make – an impact across financial services and insurance.
