William Whitt is a Strategic Advisor on Datos Insights’ Wealth Management team, covering advisor trends, advisor-focused platforms and tools, digital wealth management, electronic trading, financial planning and retirement income, listed and OTC derivatives, and registered investment advisors.
Most recently, William was a Director for Charles Schwab, where he oversaw a large portfolio of technology initiatives designed to reinvent and modernize Schwab Wealth Advisory, the company's advisor-led high-net-worth wealth management offer with US$170 billion in assets under advisement.
Over the course of his career, William has held a variety of roles within financial services, either as an executive at a leading firm or as a consultant to the industry. Recent industry experience includes roles at CME Group and at Northern Trust. At CME Group, he headed the pricing team and oversaw all fee initiatives and incentive programs for the firm’s futures exchanges, OTC clearing business, and market data business. Prior to his service at CME Group, William spend nearly a decade at Northern Trust. While there, he led development of the firm's proprietary goals-powered solutions software and oversaw the implementation of the goals-based investment approach for the firm’s investment and sales professionals. In earlier roles at Northern Trust, William served as Deputy Head and Chief Operating Officer of the wealth advisory business and Head of Planning and Market Intelligence for the private bank.
As a consultant, William's professional experience includes a previous stint as a Strategic Advisor at Datos Insights' predecessor, Aite-Novarica Group, and several years at Corporate Executive Board (now Gartner). While at Corporate Executive Board, he led the Wealth Management practice and authored numerous studies on the wealth management business.
William holds Ph.D. and B.A. degrees from Duke University, and an M.T.S. degree from Harvard Divinity School.
