Unified Digital Banking and the Promise of CIAM: A Worldwide Study

Fifty-three percent of FIs have unified digital banking/CIAM deployed in production.

Customer identity is the centerpiece for how financial services are delivered to consumers and business users. In the modern age, customer identity assurance (confidence) has been threatened by data breaches and improved cyberattacks. Customer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions operate with increasing expectations for financial services today.

This research study, commissioned by Okta, sought the insights and perspectives of 223 CIAM leaders at FIs across the globe. Quantitative methods were used for 207 CIAM leader discussions, and qualitative interviews were conducted for 15 FI leaders to more deeply understand CIAM considerations and key business enablement metrics.
