Head of Insurance Practice

Location: US, Remote

Datos’ Insurance Practice provides insurer and vendor clients with insights and advice on the business, technology, and regulatory challenges affecting many lines of insurance, including life, annuities, property & casualty, and other specialty lines.  As the Head of the practice, you will manage a team of subject matter experts supporting those clients through advisory conversations, research production, and consulting engagements. 

The ideal candidate has extensive team leadership and business management experience, with experience at an insurer, technology vendor, industry analyst firm, or management consultancy. They must demonstrate a proven ability to motivate a team of more than 20 individuals, drive revenue growth, promote operational effectiveness, and keep staff engaged during periods of change.  In addition, experience setting business strategies, managing a P&L, strong written and oral communication skills, and business analysis skills are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Insurance Practice by example by establishing a clear vision for the future, making the case for improvements and change, and choosing and executing the strategic initiatives most conducive to client engagement, revenue growth and operational efficiency
  • Promote Datos’ processes, culture, and values by collaborating and communicating effectively, supporting the work of colleagues, contributing new ideas, embracing change, and driving innovation. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment
  • Drive accountability throughout the team for meeting goals such as practice revenue results, content production, consulting, client support and advisory delivery. Drive high renewal rates by increasing subscribers’ engagement, health, and stickiness
  • Define and continuously refine the product agenda with input from the team and clients
  • Ensure that a consistent number of consulting proposals are being proposed to clients and that resulting consulting engagements are delivered in a cost-effective manner
  • Serve as a leader, mentor, and coach to the team in support of their professional development. Help establish their impact on clients and throughout the industry. Deliver positive talent outcomes (fill hiring gaps, keep engagement and retention high, and regretted attrition low)
  • Manage the team to build strong working relationships across the company.  Define workflows and promote process improvements, where needed.  Partner with sales and marketing to build tools and messaging for pre-sale support and to identify and pursue business opportunities
