Ron van Wezel is a Strategic Advisor in Retail Banking & Payments for Datos Insights, providing research and advisory services to clients globally.

Ron is a renowned expert in digital banking and payments, advising clients on a wide range of topics that includes merchant acquiring, card issuing, real-time payments, open banking, payment software platforms, and the application of AI in optimizing payments and reducing fraud.

Prior to joining Datos Insights, Ron worked in senior roles for financial institutions such as Deutsche Bank and ABN Amro. He has an extensive track record in the payments industry, serving on committees and advisory bodies within EPC, EBA, SWIFT, Mastercard, and other institutions, and leading the MobeyForum for six years. Ron is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Payments Strategy & Systems.

Ron holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry and Physics from the Vrije University in Amsterdam and an MBA in International Business from European University.
