Boston, November 3, 2020 – Capital markets trading and risk management across the globe are often put to the test during the worst of circumstances. In the years that followed the financial crisis of 2008, regulations designed to rein in risks from counterparty credit were implemented across the spectrum of financial firms. Although there were market disturbances in the decade that followed, no event has challenged these rules to the same extent as the novel coronavirus and the havoc it has unleashed on all facets of the industry.

This report examines the trends and challenges borne by market participants in both the front and middle office as a result of disruptions caused by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. It is based on Aite Group interviews of 30 market participants from 20 responding firms globally between July 1 and September 1, 2020.

This 21-page Impact Report contains eight figures. Clients of Aite Group’s Institutional Securities & Investments service can download this report, the corresponding charts, and the Executive Impact Deck.
