Avivah Litan is a Datos Fellow in the Fraud & AML practice at Datos Insights. She is an independent board and strategic advisor serving select clients in her areas of expertise. In June 2026, she concluded her tenure as a Distinguished VP Analyst at Gartner Research, where she most recently served as a senior analyst on the AI Strategy team. She was the lead analyst who created and advanced Gartner’s AI Trust, Risk and Security Management (AI TRiSM) framework—a globally recognized approach for governing, securing, and ensuring the trustworthiness of AI systems, including models, applications, and agents.
She also led Gartner’s research on “Guardian Agents,” a subset of AI TRiSM focused on supervising and governing AI agents. Her deep background in cybersecurity, fraud prevention, and AI integration informed her work on protecting and ensuring the reliability of AI technologies.
Earlier at Gartner, she created and led research on User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) and the “Five Layers of Fraud Prevention” framework. She covered endpoint security, enterprise blockchain and Web3, fraud detection, data breach prevention, electronic payments, PCI DSS compliance, broad regulatory compliance, and related domains. Before Gartner, she served as Director of Financial Systems at the World Bank and worked as a journalist and columnist for The Washington Times and several other publications. She holds a Master of Science from M.I.T. and completed a general manager’s course at Harvard Business School.
