Datos Insights seeks a Research Consultant to drive research and develop tools that enable senior financial services executives to make strategic decisions and take decisive action. This new role will help manage research agendas, lead workstreams, guide researchers, and develop innovative tools that deliver measurable impact for our clients. This individual will work closely with one to two practices aligned with distinct executive roles in financial services or insurance in partnership with the practice directors.
The Research Consultant will play a key role in our recently launched central research team reporting to the Head of Research, joining a small set of mid-to-senior research leaders and a larger group of supporting researchers. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with exceptional project management skills. The candidate will also have a proven track record of creating actionable insight and tactical guidance for senior executives in functions and lines of business like the clients Datos Insights serves.
Key indicators of success in this role include client engagement with deliverables, production of high-quality research, and positive collaboration with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the research agenda for 1-2 practice areas with support from the Head of Research, which requires aligning research topics with client needs and coordinating with practice leaders on resource allocation
- Cultivate strong problem scope, research design, and effective execution against research agenda deliverables with support from research leadership, both in deliverables owned directly by the Research Consultant and in support and guidance to advisor-owned research efforts
- Generate original insights in Datos deliverables to address pressing client problems, pushing their thinking and driving action
- Compellingly frame insights based on imaginative research approaches and rigorous empirics
- Create diagnostics, tactical tools and templates to accelerate client efforts, partnering with internal stakeholders to develop them
- Guide researchers to create multiple deliverable types (e.g., blogs, event decks, advisory conversations) as part of workstreams
- Guide 1 to 3 researchers to help them contribute to projects you are managing and develop their skills
- Support the Head of Research in honing research methods and approaches to drive efficiency and quality of deliverables
- Interview clients and partner with advisors to scope research and hone findings
Requirements:
- Project management skills to drive to results with attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience guiding teams toward original, actionable insights and effective tactical support for senior leaders
- Track record of framing insights for clients effectively in writing and visuals
- High tolerance for ambiguity, willing to roll up their sleeves to get stuff done
- Ability to build strong relationships and engage with multiple stakeholders in different parts of the organization
- Strong understanding of financial services domain and the roles we serve (4+ years similar experience); curiosity to learn more about the terrain is a must
- Very strong business acumen to align client support to help the organization grow client relationships
- 6+ years experience with research methodologies and tools (surveys, interviews, and data analysis)
- Fosters research and work climate with trust, respect, and healthy debate
- Can work effectively with a mostly remote workforce

This is principally a remote role with travel to client events and company gatherings up to three to four times a year.
